Fishtales: Writing with a hook!

My students need an HP Mini netbook computer.

Every fisherman has a great fish tale to tell! My middle school Language Arts students will seek out fish stories, write them up, and publish them, in our own Fish Tales: Volume I.

Many of my students begin the year as reluctant writers. Writing on a computer can be very motivating for these students; however, the two elderly desktops in our classroom are unreliable and crash regularly. Taking advantage of an HP Products 50% match donation, this project will purchase a netbook computer for my classroom.

I'm hoping to hook students on writing by combining it with a popular weekend activity---fishing! Students will interview family and friends at home to gather fishing tales. Working in pairs in our comfortable reading corner, students will use the netbook to write and edit their collected fish tales.

Your support will provide an exciting authentic writing experience for my students. Once Fish Tales: Volume I hits the (school-wide) bestseller list, my formerly reluctant writers will be clamoring to create another book!
