Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are bright, energetic, low-income Gifted and Talented 5th graders. We teach and learn from each other, every day in my classroom. I teach most of our Language Arts curriculum using the reading and writing workshop models of instruction. This requires lots of sharing and modeling of superb reading and writing.

A local business donated several document cameras to needy classrooms. We were included, unfortunately a LCD projector wasn't. We can't wait to use our new ELMO to share our reading, writing, and to study primary source documents in social studies. Currently there is no way to have a shared Internet experience with students in my classroom; the LCD projector would remedy that situation. Through this technology I want to bring the wide world into units, activities, projects, and research.

This projector will be used in every subject in our classroom. It will allow students to share their written work, art, projects, and ideas. I will also be able to hook the projector up to my laptop so my students can take "virtual" field trips. Many museums and other cultural institutions have amazing websites and I would like to share them with my students.
