Reading Made Fun

My students need 22 copies of Weekly Reader for Grades 4-6.

A low income school with very few materials needs your help. With your generosity, you can inspire my children read.

My fourth grade students enjoy reading, but have very little access to materials. Many parents at my school are unable to drive their children to the local library, either because they're working two or three jobs and don't have the time or they don't have a car to get them there. Our school library does not have a plethora of books either. Therefore, my children are suffering. I can teach them as many reading skills that I want, but if they don't get the chance to use those skills outside of school, it's all for nothing.

I would like enough Weekly Readers for each child in my class. These magazines are high interest and contain excellent comprehension questions. In a time when science and social studies are given little thought, Weekly Readers bring interest and excitement to these subjects. My students would be able to benefit from this information while working in small groups, reading and discussing what they learned from the magazine. The children would also enjoy the fact that they'd be able to keep these magazines themselves each week, a rare treasure to my students.

Your help will bring the joy of reading back to my children and into their homes every week. I can't do it without you.
