Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Help me turn our cinder-block walls into a reading paradise! I teach reading to a diverse group of 7th grade students who live in a high-poverty area and attend a Title 1 school. Due to lack of space at my school, my classroom is in a converted storage room.

I want my classroom to be a place that is inviting and inspiring - a place where students want to read! We only have one small window that faces out to a pod. WE NEED COLOR!!!

10 Newberry Award Book posters would cover our walls. 125 pencils, bookmarks and stickers would be great reading incentives for my students. 20 pair of scissors would help us with projects. Finally, colored hanging file folders with a file frame, would help us create student portfolios.

My students would be thrilled to receive reading incentives, and have wonderful "book posters" to cover the blah cinder blocks. Your donation will make a huge difference in these students lives - and their daily experience in my class.
