High School Student Historical Film Festival!!

My students need 15 8GB flash drives to save large amounts of data.

The project is for a tenth grade US History course. Our school is an early college high school. This program allows students the opportunity to earn a two year associates degree with their high school diploma through our partner university. Our target student is at risk of graduation and first generation college bound. This is an urban school that is 58% free and reduced lunch.

This project is very ambitious and our technology cannot support it. For this project my students need additional computer memory. My students are going to create a six part historical documentary of the United States from the start of the Cold War through today. Each episode must revolve around an interview. All episodes tackle the themes of corruption, conflict and prejudice. The last episode must be their summery of lessons we, as a country, have learned and how we can overcome the film's theme. My students are very excited about this project and are chomping at the bit to get started. They all think they can make the film that will win the film festival at the end of the year.

What they need is portable memory in the form of small, large capacity flash drives. This would allow the student to edit the film, adding soundtrack, narration, and all the other bells and whistles that make a film look professional from any computer at our school. This project will create a product that the students can take with them in their life after high school. Also, our marketing class will be marketing the festival to our entire community, hoping for strong attendance the night of the festival. We are hoping to create not only a school event, but a community event that will be looked forward to year after year.

Your assistance will make this three month project a reality and help to create a culture of pride in this new early college program in our community. This project deals with actual current issues. It forces our students to create answers that might help guide the way they see themselves and our country in the future.
