My Students

My students really need technology at their fingertips on a daily basis to complete their work for their classes. They also need to feel comfortable with technology, in order to prepare for their post-secondary choices. They are all working towards attending a two or four year college.

I teach special needs students at a high poverty high school in a resort community.

My students are juniors and seniors reaching the end of their high school careers and planning to enter either a two or four year college upon graduation. My students cannot afford the necessary technology at home to keep up with their classes. I am hoping to be able to provide technology to them on a daily basis and check the equipment out to them if necessary.

My Project

If my students have access to a computer and jump drives, they will be able to give themselves more time to work on assignments, which some of them desperately need in order to complete assignments. The jump drives would allow them the opportunity to make their work portable, so they could work on things outside of the school building or on computers other than school computers. I have been working to provide enough computers so that all of my students have the opportunity to use them on a daily basis. Because I am working to see my students move on to the next step in their academic careers, I have offered to provide a laptop to one of my students that is accepted and attends college next year. There are many in the running for this offer and it will be a hard choice.

Your help will empower my students to have the latest technology available to them on a daily basis.

The laptop will allow them the opportunity to complete assignments, research colleges and career choices, prepare for SAT/ACT testing, and improve their computer skills. The jump drives will allow them the opportunity to make their work portable so they can have more chances to work on assignments outside of the school building.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
