Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Teach For America Teacher in Oklahoma. I teach eight grade math to middle school students in low income communities. I am committed to achievement both in math and Literacy! I want to see my students go to college someday!

My 8th graders are YEARS behind in their math ability and comprehension. I try to teach grade level material and they are so overwhelmed because they are missing 5th and 6th grade concepts. They need a new ways to look at math in fun and engaging ways.

I have applied for two math games. These games are fun and remedial ways to help my students and me catch them up! One of the games is similar to scrabble but it is with equations, the other is similar to flash cards but provide students with a series of questions and pattern recognition.

You could make all the difference to my students. They have the end of the year state test coming up in 2 months. If they don't perform well our school will be on the title one list yet again and may be shut down in the future. You donation will help change this!!
