Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Somewhere in the state of Arizona, are a bunch of children who want more, but aren’t able to achieve their potential. I teach music grades K-8 at two Title 1 schools with a majority of them being English Language Learners and struggling in many ways. I want to teach my students that there is so much more available for them than what they experience presently. At our school, we have a lot of music to go with our curriculum, but the Cd's and cd player are getting old and starting to skip, and there is no money to replace anything. Having an IPod with a speaker would allow me to put all the aging Cd's on the IPod and create playlists of the songs for each day and I could just go from one song to another without switching Cd's and losing my student's attention. Since I teach at two schools, taking the docking station between the two instead of a big boombox and a bunch of Cd's would make life so much easier and organized. A remote that I could use from any area of my classroom will help keep the students on task so I can walk around the room and interact more with the students each day. Not only will this help in the classroom, it will also help with performances as well. We could use a docking station with excellent sound quality, instead of an outdated, broken sound system we currently have no funds to replace. Thank you for helping us with this project.
