Walk the road less traveled! I teach art at an alternative high school that is really trying to find alternative ways to teach our students. We have returning drop outs, young mothers, and at risk freshmen, and sophomores. Needless to say their complicated lives do not always leave time to experience first hand different cultures.

The students here are busy taking classes during the day, in the evening, working, and caring for their children. That leaves little time to experience many cultural festivals and happenings in the city. My program, ACES, aims to bring culture to the students during the regular school day.

ACES is a program designed to keep the students guessing at what they will experience next. The goal is to have students document the places they go, and reflect on the experience in a photo collage. The students will also be asked to reflect on how the different cultures will influence the choices they make and their outlook on the world around them. Students will need digital cameras, and a color printer.

Your help will ensure that my students are able to move outside of the traditional high school box and "travel" around the globe experiencing culture and documenting their reactions.
