Music Dictionaries to Get The Creative Juices Flowing!

My students need 15 Music Dictionaries and 15 Student Dictionaries.

I am a Music Teacher at a local charter school trying to meet the needs of my middle school students. The recession has hit our area hard, so we have been forced to focus on our student's primary needs; shelter, food, clothing.

We are trying to grow our Music Department to give our students an outlet for their creativity. We have a need for large items, however textbooks and text book supplies are expensive. I am currently running the Music Program without music textbooks. The music dictionaries will help supplement my current curriculum as will the student dictionaries for my finance class.

All of my music classes are General Music. We are learning music theory, world drumming, keyboarding, music history and we have various vocal groups. The music dictionaries will allow my students to define over 2,000 music terms concisely, including notation and theory terms, instruments, terms used in pop music, electronic music and the music business. The students can also use the music dictionaries to research composers because it provides more than 400 capsule biographies of composers and other musicians. The music dictionaries will also help with theory by giving summaries of the essentials of music, encompassing instrumental and vocal ranges, notation signs and symbols, modes and key signatures, and scales. The student dictionaries will help with my Finance Class by allowing them to define terms used in basic personal finance.

Since we only have eleven dictionaries in our library, your help will ensure the writing that takes place in my classroom will improve our students spelling, handwriting, and grammar. It will also give them a better understanding of music and personal finance. Our next big need will be MORE instruments!!
