Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Brand New School needs instruments! I teach Guitar, Choir, and Rock Band at a High School in it's first year. The school serves over 300 highly motivated students in the area of music, in a low income urban area.

Upon opening in September we found that there were students who had the desire and skill to play piano and no classes to offer them due to the lack of instruments. Our school also had no way to enable our students to transport their skills to the community during monthly events. This past Winter Concert we had to go out and borrow rhythm instruments from other schools and pay money from our own pockets just to do the bare minimum for the rich Latin American and Renaissance music that was performed.

My hope is that with a nice sounding keyboard, these students will be able to have their needs met and that this one keyboard will eventually lead to a piano class full of keyboards. Also, with the donation of the requested instruments, students will have access to many more styles and genres of music.

Your help will make it possible for students to play piano in various settings. Also, the students will gain access to creating authentic performances of different styles of music from all over the world. Thank you for your consideration of this project and for your willingness to help students during this hard economic time.
