My 4th Grade All-Stars are reading way more than I expected this year! My boys and girls spend mornings in the library checking out books and AR Testing. We have read as a class 5 novels to include: Songs of the Trees, Stone Fox, Summer of the Swans, Hello My Name is Scrambled Eggs, and Holes. The students have really enjoyed each novel and I am seeing their love for reading blossom as well as their test scores, grades, fluency, and comprehension.

Our school is blessed to have an operating media center, technology filled classrooms, supportive parents, and knowledge thirsty students. We are fortunate to have many resources for our boys and girls to use in order to advance their learning; however, with a slowing economy money is not always available for each necessity that a teacher wants and needs in the classroom. Websites such as this one, help to take the pressure off of a declining budget and the pressure off of parents who may not be able to provide their child with such resources.

I was introduced to the novel Bud, Not Buddy while in college; and vowed this would be a book I would read with my class one day. This book about the life of an orphaned 10 year old’s search to find answers is inspiring and entertaining. I know that the boys and girls will enjoy reading this page turner and find an interest in the life of a character that many will uncover they have a lot in common with. This book is on a 5th grade level which will be a challenging yet easy read for my students.

Your donations in any amount will help to infuse a spirit of reading and learning in our youth. There is no greater feeling than seeing a student unable to put down a book because it is just that good! A classroom set of this novel will not only help my current students but students to come as well. Helping us get to book #6 will be well worth your money because our readers of today will be our leaders of tomorrow!
