Airliner to Learn

My students need a wireless table (Airliner) to manipulate in the classroom for technology in all content areas.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Working in a low social economic area was a choice of mine when I was becoming a teacher. Over half of the population in my school speaks another language besides English and receive free-reduced lunch. In my fifth grade classroom, I have 15 bilingual students and 3 resource students out of 24 students.

Being in a school where learning the English language is a high priority in order for them to be successful in all content areas, students are facing challenges in academic vocabulary. My school believed that by incorporating technology into the classroom, students will achieve and show growth academically. After installing an Interactive Smartboard and providing my students with new laptops, my students started showing an interest to coming to school daily and learning new concepts in fifth grade. This technology had made my students become risk takers and be able to manipulate what they are learning visually. Not everything has to come out of a textbook because not all students learn the same way. Technology is used daily in my classroom to tap into their prior knowledge and be able make learning and teaching fun.

In order for my students to manipulate this technology successfully with the guidance of their peers and teachers, our class would benefit from using an Interactive Wireless Tablet (Airliner). I can finally scaffold with the Wireless Tablet and have a student work on a problem from their desk. My students will be able to present their projects from a click where they are standing at. They will be able to use the Wireless Tablet to collaborate in their groups to show how a problem is solved in many content areas.

You will make it possible for my students to manipulate their own learning in all content areas by using more technology in the classroom. Students will be able to show growth in learning the language and be able to become successful techie students of the future.
