Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"I teach first grade in a high-needs, public education school located in an inner-city projects neighborhood in Southern California (So-Cal).

After putting away backpacks and doing their jobs, the students in my classroom head straight to the bookshelves to choose two books to read. With rare exception, the first books to be chosen are Dick and Jane classics (along with Dr. Seuss books). While certainly a wonderful and encouraging sight, the wear and tear is constant and our supply is often in need of repair or replacement (we're at a critical replacement stage for many titles).

While I can afford to keep up the classroom's basic library, I am unable to pay for numbers adequate enough for students to be able to choose their favorites on a regular basis (nor am I able to afford to pay for enough copies to keep buddies reading together during "may do" time).

Your donation will ensure that Dick and Jane and Sally and Mother and Father and Spot and Puff will continue to address each other politely for many wonderful months and years to come.
