Poverty overwhelms my school. The students are below the poverty level. Violence is highly prevalent in the neighborhood. Drug abuse and availability of drugs are both high. The students are fun and kind. They have very little at home. They have very few possessions.

My students have had almost zero experience with board games. Many have never played chutes and ladders and even bingo. They need these experiences as they build upon basic math literacy and basic skills. Games can build cooperation and community. They often teach skills that all children need to have.

In order to get my students cooperating and gaming I need 2 sets of action games, 2 sets of classic games, and a bingo set. They will need pencils to keep track of the scores. The sets will allow all students to play in the room. They will learn those great cooperation and challenge skills that board games produce. They will learn to play fairly and by the rules. They will learn fairness and equality while gaming.

Please help us with these cool math literacy lesson. You can help bring my students into equality with others. They will lovingly care for their games and share their games successfully. You can help build a community. Donate to this grant and build my student's experience.
