Songs in the Key of Art.

My students will greatly benefit from Mr. Percy coming to our school sharing his knowledge of art through his songs and stories. The students will learn about art through his songs and by singing those songs in a performance for the community with him. This will impact the students and the community as part of our Fine Arts Festival.

Yo Leonardo....Go Vinny go...can you imagine learning about art and artists using rock songs to get the kids attention? How cool would that be and how much fun the students will have learning the songs and gaining the information they need. Every year our school has a Fine Arts Festival celebrating the arts. All 520 students participate in some way either doing a research project, helping to build sets and designing the hallway decorations or performing in a play or some years, even in an opera. This year our focus is art forms and artists. Students will learn about a wide variety are art forms, producing some of those forms and about artists. We have invited a guest artist who will not only work with our students about producing art, but he has written songs that will help the students learn about art concepts in a fun, rock n roll way. The student performers will actually perform some of his songs with him, as well as other songs from a play about artist. Our school corporation is facing major budget cuts this year and our community is suffering too. We are self sufficient, meaning we rely on donations from the community to make this festival happen. We have not received the donations like we have in the past due to the economy and the school has no money to help support this program. We need your help! Our students are not only looking forward to this festival, but will greatly benefit from what the guest artist will do with our kids. Please have a heart and help support the Arts!
