We are an Early College High School whose goal is to give students the skills they will need for success in college.

My students are always asking about how GPS systems work, and why we can not do the lab activities that use GPS from the book. Having GPS devices will really bring mapping alive in the classroom.

In Earth Science, one of my goal is to help students understand how to navigate the world using maps and mapping devices. The GPS devices will help students get a hands-on idea of how maps are made by using the data from these GPS to create them. We will also be able to use these GPS to monitor the stream we have adopted and the locations of our water quality tests.

You will make it possible for my students to find where they are on the earth, practice making maps, writing understandable directions, perform scavenger hunts, be able to mark water test sites, and track pollution for our adopted stream. These are incredible projects that can help prepare these students to tackle real life problems. Those are thinking skills that will last them a lifetime.
