"The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play." Captain James T. Kirk (Star Trek...episode Shore Leave) Reading, writing, math, science, and social studies are the subjects I teach in my Kindergarten classroom. We are a diverse high need community public school in New York City.

Kindergarten students enter school with such a great enthusiasm for learning. Due to a great deal of budget cuts our supplies are limited. Therefore, reading center manipulatives have become extremely difficult to obtain.

Our Balanced Literacy Program incorporates all reading approaches. Students need to use multiple strategies to become proficient readers. This includes addressing the multiple learning styles as well. A variety of reading manipulatives would give my students the excitement of working in reading centers as well as address the many different learning styles my children have.

Please help my students promote their intellectual growth through the "simplicity of play." Your donation would make this possible for my students to achieve.
