Thank you so much for visiting DonorsChoose.org to support classrooms! Donors like you have made a tremendous difference in my classroom and have provided numerous opportunities for my students that they wouldn't otherwise have gotten. I teach gifted enrichment to 123 students at a rural Alabama elementary school. Many of my students come from poverty and have very little. Our school also has a large percentage of non English proficient students. Despite these hardships, my students love learning and give 100% effort. I am so blessed to work with them each day.

During this tough economic time, schools have been hit very hard. Budgets are bare bones, and there is no funding for enrichment opportunities that my students so desperately deserve. Alabama schools are in a state of pro-ration this year. This means that teachers receive absolutely no funding for classroom supplies. We were in this situation last year as well, and I spent almost $2,000 out of pocket so that my students could have the materials that they needed.

Thank goodness I found Donors Choose! Without this wonderful organization and generous donors like you, my students would simply have to go without. My students are so excited about Math and Science. We are studying distance, speed, and force. There is a much better way to learn these concepts than by completing worksheets and simply reading chapters out of a textbook. We would like to build race cars powered by the force of a mousetrap snap and measure their distance and speed. Students learn concepts much better by using hands on learning activities, and students can see how these concepts are applicable to real life situations. They also realize that learning is fun!

Learning is PRICELESS, but basic instructional materials quickly add up for classroom teachers. Words can't express how much I appreciate the donations that are given to my students. They are so appreciative! After having other projects funded one little boy in my room said "It is so nice of people to help us when they don't even know us!" Once again, we would be grateful for any help you can provide in getting us the materials we need to succeed!
