Projects! How we love projects! My small town fifth grade classroom is all about projects.

Our students in our school come from lower economic families. Many students come from one parent families or are being raised by relatives. Reading is not so much an emphasis in their homes.

My fifth graders are in need of books about space and astronomy. We are hosting a star party in our parking lot and school. Each student is helping plan the activities and coordinate the adults. Our hope is to have many books to give away that night to encourage reading in a subject that we are so passionate about.

Your help will ensure that the students in our school get an opportunity to share in our love of reading and of astronomy. By giving each family a book, you are helping encourage these families to sit down and read together. This activity supports family time that is so needed for our students to feel successful.
