Hands On Science Materials for Future Scientists

My students need 8 science supplies such as owl pellets, a microscope, rocks and minerals, activity tubs, and books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My school is located in an area of California in which 80% of our students are economically disadvantaged. Forty-two percent of students are English learners. My 4th graders are part of the 6% of the school population that are Gifted learners.

My GATE students absolutely LOVE science. Several want to become scientists when they grow up. However, our science supplies are very limited and do not allow my students to engage in the in-depth science exploration that they crave.

The resources I selected are all in areas that my students have expressed interest in. The "Cells and Organisms Activity Tub" and its book library, as well as the "Growing Bacteria" kit will delight and inspire these future scientists and doctors, and they will be able to use the microscope to further their investigations. The "Rocks, Minerals, and Fossil" collection and the book libraries on "Electricity" and "Properties of Earth" will give students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the state science standards. The "Owl Pellets" will allow them to engage in a novel scientific pursuit. The materials will allow them to conduct real scientific experiments, use the actual tools that scientists do, and expand their scientific background knowledge exponentially!

These resources may plant the seeds that will one day grow into future scientists, researchers, and doctors. These are the kinds of learning experiences that stick with students and have a positive and sometimes life-altering impact. Please help make this possible.
