Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

After each unit wrap-up my fourth grade ESL students get to put that enriched vocabulary to the test. Theme theater gets those creative ideas a flowing and aids in putting written text on paper. It allows for all beginning readers to listen and participate, and challenges the advanced to voice their own personal words onto dialogue. Recording and viewing the videos will set the purpose for editing and revising.

An HP flip camcorder is a portable gadget that even a student can use. It will teach my students to document our Theme theater plays but also introduce the importance of literary analysis. I would be able to demonstrate to my students how to story map, teach various parts of a play such as characters development, plots,solutions and original dialogue.

All videos will assist in engaging my students in listening and speaking which is essential in language acquisition. I find that role-playing allows my students to make judgments, express Ideas and form opinions. Having this form of technology in the classroom can set the pace for comparing text, learning about genres, and contribute in identifying the mood in their unique stories. Reading aloud their hand-made scripts will assist in building confidence and increase fluency.

Your support will promote interaction through conversation and motivate language use that can used as a stepping stone for increased literacy and generate self-sufficient writers.
