My students need 71 copies of No Fear Shakespeare's "Macbeth" and 1 DVD of Roman Polanski's movie version of "Macbeth".

I would like to make Shakespeare's "Macbeth" accessible to my high-need, low income, multicultural 10th graders. I teach English with emphasis on literacy and preparing for college.

The school lacks the resources with the current budget crisis, especially for editions of Shakespeare that include modern translations. Each year, I grab my students' interest when I teach them to translate Shakespeare into modern English, show them a DVD of the movie version after reading it, and connect it to their lives.

A set of 71 copies of No Fear Shakespeare's "Macbeth" offers a captivating, kid-friendly modern side-by-side translation that my 10th grade students need to read to overcome the challenge of comprehending Shakespeare. One DVD of Roman Polanski's movie version of "Macbeth" also aids in student's comprehension by visually seeing the plot after reading it.

In addition to using this book in our study of Shakespeare and literacy, we would also incorporate acting out the play through a performance. Your donation will not only help students comprehend Shakespeare, but to the point where they can act it out for an audience and write response to literature essays. By reading this book, 10th graders will be able to understand one of the greatest playwrights of all time.
