Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Your help is needed to provide a comfortable learning experience in my classroom. I teach first grade at a high needs (90% free and reduced lunch) elementary school.

The problem with our school is that it was built in 1948 and it feels every bit as old. To top that off, my classroom is located in a trailer that has no windows. The atmosphere is far from comfortable. It is tough to lighten up the room and to make it a comfortable place to spend our day.

I am requesting 5 colorful bean bag chairs to help brighten up the room as well as to help to give my students a comfortable place to read and write. It is hard to expect anyone, let alone a child, to sit on a hard plastic chair or on a non-padded rug all day and feel comfortable. I believe these bean bag chairs will help motivate my students to want to learn and provide a comfortable means of doing so.

I continue to strive every day to give my students the best education in a positive learning environment. However, there are aspects of my classroom environment that are beyond my control. Your generous donation will help to brighten our school day and provide a comfortable atmosphere for reading, writing, listening, etc. I believe something as simple as a bean bag chair will go a long way to improve the quality of our daily learning experience.
