I am a fifth grade math teacher. I teach in an economically challenged school. Our school population has 92% receiving free lunch.

My students enjoy math class. I try to create an environment that has real life problems that they can relate to. However, we lack the supplies needed to continue on this path.

In my class I have activity centers. In the centers students have the opportunity to work with their peers and share their ideas. The next objective I will teach is measurement. Measurement involves time, distance, weight and volume. This objective is enjoyed and grasped easily when small groups have their own equipment. My students need 3 scales to provide them with these hands-on, real life activities in their centers.

In our school's current economic state, you are our only possible "weigh" to make learning come alive. Please support my kids.
