Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a high school math teacher at a high-need urban community. This year, I am teaching students from 9th to 12th grade. There are many reasons behind low achievements in math for urban schools. One of the important factors is that many of the students do not see or recognize math in actions. Some of my students need to see how math is used in real life before they believe that it is useful. One of the ways they can see math in action is becoming foresters. With a clinometer, a measuring tape and some trigonometry knowledge, my students can be like real foresters who figure out the height of the tree without actually climbing to the top. I want to help my students to believe in math, and I believe that my students will appreciate the beauty of math once they are motivated to learn. Everyone deserves the same advantage and same opportunity. Your funding can help level the playing field for my students so they will have an equal chance to be successful in college. Your help will be appreciated, and my students will be very thankful of the care that you contribute to their education.
