I currently teach 31 of the best advanced placement biology students in an urban school district in Illinois.

Within our advanced placement class, we are not only learning Biology at a college level, but many of my students are learning what it means to be a college student. Many of my students are not prepared for the work that needs to be put into assignments, projects, papers, and studying at a college level. Within the curriculum, I try to do as many hands-on activities, give as many opportunities for practice, and have the students diagram difficult concepts as much as possible. Doing all of this has been extremely helpful to my students but has been very draining on our departments paper resources. As with most urban schools, over 70% of our students are low income and cannot afford basic supplies such as pencils and pens.

I am asking for reams of colored paper to color code my worksheets for each chapter to help my students learn to organize, a case of copy paper to ensure that they get the copies they need and have paper to use for class projects, and a roll of butcher paper for creating posters.

Donating to this project and my classroom will ensure that all of my students are well prepared for college and beyond.
