"Dear Potential Donor,

We are an action packed classroom of 25 amazing and unique second grade explorers. Although we don't all learn the same way and at the same pace....we all really do want the opportunity to LEARN, DREAM, and ACHIEVE...WE ARE YOUR FUTURE!

We have a couple of wishes you might be able to help us out with to make our learning more ENGAGING, "GREEN" and EXCITING!

Have you heard? Worksheets don't grow dendrites! Our teacher attended a conference last fall that introduced her to lots of instructional strategies that will engage our brains in the classroom. Worksheets are NOT one of the strategies!

Instead, our teacher wants us to try using lots more hands-on activities. Art and drawing facilitates visualization. Manipulatives provide us the opportunity to touch, build, produce, and explore learning with tangible materials. Games provide active processing, socialization, and challenges with instant feedback and success. Cooperative learning will assist us in learning to work in a team-like environment. Laughter and humor both help maintain our attention and gives a a more positive experience in school while improving our memory. These are just a few strategies that our teacher highly agrees with. Our teacher's real goal is to help us retain the important stuff we need to know, while we are engaged and having fun!

We participate in "Literacy Centers" every day for 90 minutes. We would love to use these Reading & Writing Instant learning Center Set and "Vocabulary Learning Games Library" for our centers. With these hand-on activities, we will be actively learning and "going green" at the same time. These activities don't require any paper because they provide wipe-off boards. That's called a "win-win" situation!

Anything you are able to help us out with, will be appreciated, enjoyed, and remembered by all of us.

Warm regards,

Mrs. W's and her Sensational Second Grade Explorers....Where Learning is an Adventure!

Remember, READERS ARE LEADERS! Together, we can make a DIFFERENCE! :)

Reply to the classroom

Dear Rick and Quad Run,

Allow me to begin by thanking you again for your generous contributions to our classroom. I am honored and humbled that you both chose our classroom project to fund. My students were equally excited and thankful for your thoughtfulness to their learning!

My amazing explorers have had the exciting opportunity to use some of the new "Instant Learning Centers" and "Vocabulary Library Games'...and they love them! Although each explorer has voiced his/her "favorite" new learning game, from homophones to contractions to prefixes and suffixes, to sentence building, the best part for all of them is that learning has been fun! All of the explorers have been actively engaged in their learning and we have been decreasing our paper waste. They each have enjoyed the new variety of activities and couldn't wait to get to their "word work" center. Our daily Literacy Centers will never be the same, thanks to the both of YOU!

Thank you again for making a difference in education, and helping our "future leaders" discover that learning can be
FUN!

With gratitude,
Mrs. W.

Dear Rick and Quad Run,

Please accept my HEARTFELT gratitude for your generous donations to my second grade classroom. My AMAZING Explorers are truly looking forward to using these reading, writing, and vocabulary activities during their Literacy Centers each day. As Explorers, they will be actively engaged with their learning, having fun with "hands-on" activities, and "going green" by using these wipe-off boards in place of paper.

As an educator, who's passion is TEACHING, I would like to express my true appreciation for your support towards education. As we all know, state funds are not readily available for all classroom needs and requests, However, thanks to thoughtful and concerned individuals like you....together, we are making a difference!

Thank you again for your generous donations!

With gratitude,
Mrs. W.
