Creating a Music Technology Lab

I am currently teaching K-5 music at a Title 1 school in Eastern North Carolina. This means that a large number of my 350 students receive government assistance. Additionally, many of these students are English Language Learners from Burma and Thailand refugee camps.

Technology plays a large part in society. I would like to create a small technology lab in my classroom where my students can have the ability complete online webquests, listen to podcasts about the composer of the month, and use a variety of music software. Currently, I have one "teacher laptop" in my room that I use for PowerPoint presentations and my personal use.

With two HP netbooks I could set up a technology station in my room. Students in North Carolina must complete an online computer skills exam. This technology station help my students gain the necessary skills to be successful on this exam.

You will make it possible for my students to use technology to advance their understanding of basic music skills including composition. Your help will ensure that my students will truly become 21st Century learners.
