Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach second grade English Language Learners in a multicultural school setting in a high poverty demographic area. This is a linguistically diverse second grade classroom that is striving to learn despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives. Many of the students come to school without the knowledge or skills to be successful. The majority of the students do not have any support at home. We are striving to learn how to read and write despite the many obstacles that they are faced with. Hablas Ingles? In our classroom the students are learning English. In fact we dedicate the first four hours of each day working on our language skills including speaking and listening. These digital voice recorders will allow the students to record and listen to their own reading in order to help their fluency. During centers the students will record themselves reading and use the recording and a rubric to evaluate their skills and help them to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Help my English Language Learners improve their reading skills by providing them with these voice recorders.
