Let's Read Fluently!

My students need reading cards at levels from first to sixth grade in order to practice and build fluency skills.

Building fluency skills is a key component of a solid Reading program. I am a fifth grade teacher in a high-need community. I teach all subjects, but I have a strong belief that the ability to read is necessary in order to be successful in other academic areas.

My fifth grade students have a large range in reading ability. I am teaching reading levels from first to sixth grade. All of the students would benefit from a more focused effort on building fluency. At the beginning of the year I noticed a general dislike of reading and a reluctance to engage in any type of reading task. I believe that we have conquered this first obstacle, now my students are willingly reading (even enjoying it at times)!

I believe that now it is time to take the next step and assist my students in improving their ability to read fluently. As it becomes easier to read stories and text at a fluent pace, I believe that my students will take the next step towards becoming life long readers. The two sets of reading fluency cards will help my students to become more aware of their current level of fluency. They also allow students to track their growth as the year progresses. I am sure that these cards will be a great addition to my current reading program.

Your generosity will enable my students to become more fluent readers. I am confident that your support will also help to build a strong foundation in reading that will provide my students with the skills necessary to truly appreciate the joy of reading.
