I have a classroom that consists primarily of low income students. They come from a home life that is very unstable and school is most of the students' only outlet. Motivation is a very hard thing to accomplish when my kids see reading as a chore! We received the first three books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kids series from donorschoose.org and you would have thought that it was Christmas in our classroom. My students were so excited and could not wait to read the books. I have never seen all of them so engaged in reading at the same time. They absolutely loved reading the books. They can relate to many of the stories that the main character tells, and humor adds to it. My kids are dying to read the fourth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series! My kids would absolutely LOVE to receive the fourth book in the series, "Dog Days." I would really love to watch their excitement in reading explode again! We will undoubtedly have more classroom discussions where every student has their hand raised begging to answer my questions again. By donating to this project, you will give many students the joy of reading. They will be very engaged with the books and this will help to spark their interest in reading again! These hardcover books will last for years to come. You will certainly be affecting many students' lives! Thank you!
