Karaoke: Struggling Readers Sing Along!

My students need 1 Karaoke machine and 10 cd's to gain confidence in their reading.

I am a Special Education teacher for students in grades 3,4 and 5. I am seeking funding for a karaoke machine with CDs to help my reluctant and struggling readers.

All of my students are below grade level in reading and I am forever searching for innovative ways to encourage them to practice reading out loud. Many of my students are fond of singing the pop songs. I remember learning to read and how difficult it could be at times, since I have dyslexia myself. Remembering words to favorite songs, on the other hand was a breeze.

Karaoke, where the words to songs are highlighted for students, will promote fluency and give them a fun way to practice a skill that can be otherwise frustrating. I can just see them now belting out songs into the microphone!

Thank you for giving my students a way to have fun while practicing reading aloud in front of an audience.
