Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a School Social Worker who provides social and emotional support for a diverse population of students from Pre-K thru 8th grade. These are high need students in an urban community.

Our students live in a community that is experiencing poverty, acculturation, and increased trauma. The students are consistent in their quest for the appropriate skills and footage that will help them to avoid at risk behaviors that could shatter their personal dreams and goals.

The students are striving to reach their academic and social/emotional goals, but additional resources and assistance is needed to increase their life, coping, and social skills. We need a multimedia LCD projector will allow the students to view films and engage in authentic interactive learning that can prevent at-risk behaviors that are increasing suspensions and delinquent behaviors beyond the classrooms.

With your help our students will be educated, empowered, influenced, and encouraged to move in a positive direction. There is a high possibility that the evidence based curriculum will decrease at-risk behaviors and increase open communication that embraces change. The visual activities will allow them to use every component of the lessons increasing the fidelity compliance and positive outcomes. You can help us increase self-esteem, conflict-resolution, confidence, coping skills, and other life skills to be productive citizens of society.
