Got Compost?

My students need two composting bins to use in our Outdoor Wildlife Learning Site located on the school grounds.

I teach middle school science to grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, in a rural community district. However, this project will allow the entire school, PK - 8th, to participate and make a difference to our environment.

Four years ago, through a series of grants, we added an outdoor wildlife learning site to our school grounds. The students have benefited tremendously from the opportunity to work outside with hands on activities that have allowed them to learn about the environment and how to take care of and maintain the garden. The students have suggested we add 2 compost bins to the garden so that we can make our own nutrient rich organic soil from the weeds and waste around the school.

By adding the compost bins to our outdoor learning site, the students will have an opportunity to made a direct difference to the environment and at the same time learn about the natural processes involved in the production of an organic compost we can use in the care and maintenance of the garden.

Your support of this project will allow the students at our school the opportunity to make a difference in the way they learn to care for our environment. They will have the ability to take waste and weeds from the garden and create a very needed organic nutrient so that we can enjoy the beautiful plants and flowers for many years to come.
