I teach junior high math at an economically disadvantaged school in one of the most impoverished areas of town.

My students are very diverse and nearly all of them love hip hop music. Last year I had the kids write rap songs to remember their fraction rules. This was not only very effective in retention, but the kids really enjoyed it.

A small recording set-up would make it possible for me to record their songs and make mp3 files out of them so that they can listen to them outside of class. It will also make it possible to post their rap songs to the Internet which will serve as a resource for other schools to reinforce their curriculum.

Your donation will help my kids learn math in a way they can really remember and serve as a resource for other teachers and other schools who want to use these recordings as well.
