Students need technology! I teach 10th grade college preparatory courses at an International Baccalaureate magnet school in Texas. The students use video production to learn history and prepare for college success by becoming more knowledgeable about cutting edge technology. Technology that they will be required to use once they go into college and the real world. I teach in a low socio-economically school. My students may never get the opportunity to use notebooks before they go off to college. This notebook will use be used by all students that pass through my class, from special education to International Baccalaureate diploma students.

My students choose our magnet program because of the free International Baccalaureate program we offer. It affords them an opportunity to gain critical skills that will aid them in college. I teach history through technology. We film our own newscast called History News Now (HNN). We edit and produce the newscast and then use the final product as tutorials for our school district to study for our state testing and No Child Left Behind (NCLB) accountability standards. Our budget cannot afford the type of computer needed to produce this newscast efficiently. We are constantly dealing with computer crashes and loss of information.

We need this laptop to create our newscast faster. The more HNN tutorials we create increase the amount of content we can cover. My students crave technology and will use it better themselves and others. The laptop backpack will help us become more mobile and give us the ability to go into the community and bring back knowledge to other students. We have students that do not have the resources at home or school to complete their part of the projects
