"You've got to see it to believe it!" My classes are comprised of low-level learners in the ninth and tenth grades. We are striving to hook them on learning, reading, and communicating.

The ninth- and tenth-grade students in my classroom struggle with reading comprehension and retention of material. Viewing films that portray and connect to our reading help them to understand and retain what we read.

The 12 DVD titles in my request list are all directly connected to our reading. Some are film adaptations of the readings we cover, and others are films that help to teach concepts like theme and prejudice.

Although this project seems simple, the purchase of the films on this list will make it much easier for me to hook the interest of my students and make learning a real possibility for them.
