We are a resource class for a small elementary school in Maine. We are a diverse program with a significant special needs population.

Our school budget has been cut significantly and our students are losing out on field trips, funds for extra activities and supplies/equipment. We are concerned with the lunchtime 'quiet room'. Our class cannot handle the noise level and chaos of the cafeteria.

Their lunch period could be a productive and educational time if we had a large flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to show curriculum-based videos, computer presentations, or student-led activities.

Our students have physical and cognitive obstacles which make it difficult to access the regular cafeteria. Rather than feeling isolated in a small, separate room from the rest of the school, with this equipment they would have a special place to spend their lunch time and use for a number of projects.
