I am a multiple subject sixth grade teacher at an elementary school in California. Due to the current economic crisis and budget cuts in the education system, we are very limited in our teaching materials for the school year

My students have shown incredible interest in helping to save our planet and becoming a greener society. Not only have they taken the initiative to recycle in our classroom, they have also developed an interest in renovating our school's garden to promote being green.

Being a green society is very important for our kids' generation to learn about and understand. With the impact global warming has on our society today, we need to educate our children on how we can save our planet Earth from human destruction. Our children are the future, and with intervention early on, we can help them learn to maintain our Earth's beauty. In correlating with our state science standards, students will learn various terminology about reusable and sustainable resources. Subsequently, students will use their new found "GREEN" knowledge to participate in creating items out of recyclables and reusable resources. They will sell these items at an Eco-fair while also encouraging our community members to do their part in helping to save Mother Earth. Students will also give tours of the school's garden to community members. My students will use the two laptop computers (with two year extended warranties) to do research and create a website to document their journey on the development of the Eco-fair, from the beginning to the end! The Hewlett Packard laptop computers will allow ease of use and portability for the Eco-Fair project.

Your help will ensure that my students fully understand how they can make a difference in saving our planet. My students will not only learn how they can do their part in becoming green, but also how they can become advocates for a change in making our planet a greener, more eco-friendly, and healthier place to live.
