Media and technology has consumed almost every aspect of our lives and has certainly influenced how we communicate. My Media Program is devoted to helping students understand the importance of Media and how to use it accordingly. Our Media III students consist mainly of seniors who look to further their interest in the field of communications. Here they are taught the techniques of linear and non-linear editing along with practical interviewing projects. The students also produce club commercials, P.S.A.s and sports highlight videos for our school, along with many other practical assignments that are seen on our closed circuit television channel.

A well received project in our Media III class is the Hallway Interview. The Media students enjoy it because they come up with an interesting topic for the student body to respond to such as: Should teenagers go treat or treating?, What’s your New Years Resolution? or What are your plans for the summer break?. The students enjoy it because they get to be seen and heard on our closed circuit Television channel, and the Media students enjoy it because they get to be creative as an interviewer and in post production. Over the years we have suffered a number of XLR cable and camera injuries due to the fact that the hallways can become overcrowded during passing. Students are also limited to how far they can reach with the microphone through the halls and classroom desks.

A Dynamic Wireless microphone would give the Media students the freedom and security to interview without fear of losing sound because of accidents. It would also allow students to learn how to use such equipment if they choose to further their career in the communication field.

Our Media Program takes pride in our ability to make students realize their potential in the field of communications, whether it be in front of the camera or behind. I speak from experience because I went through this very Media Program. I felt something special here and wanted to continue the process by teaching in the same classroom. With your help the program will continue to supply our students with state of the art equipment and peace of mind.
