I teach 5 year-old kindergarteners in rural South Carolina. We are a Title One school with 93% of kindergarten students receiving free/reduced lunch. Our school is featured on SC ETV's "Corridor of Shame." All of our funds for this school year have been frozen.

I was lucky enough to receive a Promethean Board for my classroom. It is a wonderful technological tool for my classroom. I am able to engage my students in active participation lessons using the flipchart program that came with my board. As I have been learning to use the board and incorporate it into all of my subject areas, I have realized that a scanner would be a useful tool to have in my classroom.

Many scanners come as a scanner/printer/copier combination. My classroom is also in need of a printer. I need one to print class newsletters and parent letters. My students will also use it to print pictures to use in journal writing activities. The copier would be wonderful because we are not in the main building. Often, I need one or two more copies of something and lose valuable instruction time. I am also requesting extra ink.

Your help will make it possible for my students to enjoy a greater variety of interactive activities on our Promethean Board through the use of a scanner. A printer will allow my students the opportunity to print pictures to use in their journal writing. They really enjoy writing about pictures that have meaning to them. The copier will be a huge time saver.
