My 6th grade students live in a high poverty area and are at risk for academic failure in all three of these state-tested subjects.

My students love technology and have noticed that students in the neighboring county all have laptops, wireless Internet, online tutorials, etc. but they do not. Budget cuts have dashed their hopes of having technology in their classrooms.

I've been beating the bushes to flush out resources to give them technology for instruction. With a $2000.00 grant from an electric company and a $500.00 grant from an educational foundation I have been able to purchase a CPS system, a laptop to run it, and a document camera. We are so close- only one link is missing- an LCD projector to make all this technology come together and work for my students.

When we have this, the lack of textbooks and the inability to make copies of practice work due to budget restraints will not matter anymore!
