Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach kindergarten for a rural, county school system in Alabama. A very high percentage of our students are ESL (English as a second language) and receive free/reduced lunch.

As teacher I believe we should reward GOOD behavior rather than just discipline bad behavior. Children thrive on the praise and encouragement that they receive from adults. Unfortunately some of my students never receive a word of praise at home so it is my obligation to make up for it while they are at school. This year all Alabama schools are in a state of pro-ration. This means that teachers are given no funding to buy classroom supplies. I have spent my personal money on supplying my students with basic supplies such as crayons, glue, scissors, etc. My students would love and greatly benefit from a variety of rewards to be given to them when they are "Caught being good".

I need a variety of rewards to give my student when they are caught exhibiting good behavior. A treasure chest full of small rewards, reward arm band and reward stamps in English and Spanish will show my students and their parents how much I appreciate their good behavior at school.

Your help will ensure that my students have fun rewards to promote good behavior. The difference that previous grants funded by Donors Choose has made in my classroom is amazing! Will you PLEASE help my kindergarten students to be rewarded when they are "Caught being good"? Thank you!
