Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach K-5 music at a low-income, urban school. Most of these kids do not have a chance to travel to experience other cultures, so I bring the cultures to them. We love to play music from around the world, but our classroom does not have any of the drums we need to play Latin American and African music. Help us leave the city and "travel" to other lands! We are asking for a pair of bongos, a pair of congas, and a djembe so we can continue to learn about others by participating in their music. It's important to understand others who are different from us, and music gives us a spring-board into further exploration of culture. Your contribution will help my city-bound students expand their worldview and learn to understand others through music!
