I am an early college high school math teacher in the state of North Carolina. Our student population is mainly students who will be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college.

The student population at my school is comprised of mostly underserved students who would like to attend college. We offer an accelerated program with an emphasis on using technology to promote learning. This technology includes access to graphing calculators for all our students. Many students do not have the resources to purchase batteries for the calculators. While we have been able to supply batteries for the school's calculators in the past, our budget has been cut and our enrollment is up. Our students should have access to working graphing calculators at all times to be successful in our program and ultimately in college. I do not want my students to be in a situation where they cannot complete a math assignment or investigation because their batteries died and they do not have the money to purchase more.

Five boxes of Duracell AAA batteries should keep our graphing calculators running for an entire school year just in case our budget is cut again.

Your generous donation will be used to ensure equal access to mathematics for all my math students. We stress application and inquiry in our math classroom, and we cannot do the advanced work without working calculators.
