Green Mile: What's true and what's Hollywood's twist? Is a prison guard's job difficult?

A unit challenging students to improve their literacy skills while learning about the death penalty and the life of a prison guard.

1 copy of the novel for each of my 59 students so we can read it together and discuss together prior to viewing the movie.

Students haven't thought about the death penalty and to be honest some of them don't care because it's never affected them personally. Reading the "Green Mile" will provoke further investigation of the death penalty and the life of a prison guard.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
