Organizing Students is Hard Work!

My students need 2 shelves and 20 magazine boxes for all our books!

The weather to yard sale is ending in our small coastal town, and I am ecstatic by the amount of books that I was able to get from yard sales. However, my bins are stocked full of books and there isn't any room left. My 5th graders love the reading area that has been created in our classroom, but it keeps getting smaller because there are now bins of books on the floor. The season has changed and along with the cold weather the poor economy is showing more. Living on the coast we don’t accumulate as much snow, however, the cold wintry ice surrounds us. Many of our families are feeling this now. Over fifty percent of our students receive free or reduced hot lunch. Many of our families struggle to support themselves through this tough economy. I have requested two large bookshelves and 20 magazine holders to help organize the classroom library books. I have been using two smaller shelves that other teachers had discarded during the summer months. I tried to fix them up by putting a new coat of paint on them, however, they are just wearing down from their age. With your donation I would be able to get rid of the old bookshelves and replace them with more space efficient shelves. Also, the magazine holders are great for organizing some of the picture books into specific categories. I have been blessed by donations through my teaching career, and sadly schools need the most help now because of tightened budgets. With your donations you can make it possible for this years students and upcoming 5th graders to have a comfortable reading corner with many titles displayed. Not only for students to be able to find books they love, but also so the books are taken care of. Thank you for taking the time to reading through my proposal.
