Materials for AWESOME Intervention Program!!

My students need 28 different book titles, including works by Judy Blume, Andrew Clements, Chris Van Allsburg and Patricia Polacco.

I am a special education teacher serving elementary students in grades K-5. The majority of students in this school are on free/reduced lunches. I work with all students in my building who are on I.E.P.'s and, additionally, I teach intervention programs to several small groups of students to increase deficit skills. Currently many of my students have made significant gains in reading levels thanks to the intensive interventions used with them.

My current intervention program is a two part series that culminates at reading level 2.5, however, I just received an amazing new reading intervention program (as a gift from a speech pathologist) which will complement my current series fantastically as it spans from reading level 2.5 to 5.0. The only obstacle is purchasing one each of the individual book titles to go with the lessons.

Multiple intervention lessons are provided in this program for each of the following book titles: Big Al, Cinder Edna, Cinderella's Rat, For the Love of Autumn, Freckle Juice, Frindle, The Frog Prince Continued, How I Became a Pirate, The Hundred Dresses, The Magic Finger, Miss Nelson is Missing, Miss Smith Reads Again!, Miss Smith's Incredible Storybook, Miss Spider's Tea Party, Mr. Lincoln's Way, Night of the New Magicians, Nothing Ever Happens on 90th Street, The Other Side, Pirate Pete's Giant Adventure, Probuditi!, Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon, The Sweetest Fig, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, Thank You, Mr. Falker, Winston the Book Wolf, The Witch who was Afraid of Witches, Wolf!, and The Wolf's Story. The difficulty level of each lesson gets increasingly more difficult the higher they are able to go in the program. This program provides practice and skills in all 5 of the major reading areas. The program is based on scientific research and has been proven to be successful.

I serve many students who have previously been reluctant readers, have employed avoidance techniques, and/or have shown disruptive behaviors in order to avoid taking part in reading activities because they feel inadequate and have consistently failed in the past. Since beginning these intervention programs my students show increased self confidence, higher levels of reading comprehension, higher levels of work completion, and many report a higher degree of self confidence. The avoidance techniques have all but disappeared and the students are doing very well in their respective classrooms. Your help in purchasing these book titles will provide me with the materials to continue interventions through a reading level of 5.0
