I teach 17 wonderful third graders in a poor, struggling, highly impacted school in North Carolina.

The phrases "I don't like reading", "Reading is hard", and "Do I have to read?" make me cringe! Unfortunately, few of my students read on a third grade level, and many of them read on a first grade level. They are frustrated and think reading is boring.

I want my students to love reading as much as I do! However, worksheet after worksheet after worksheet is just making them dislike it even more. Students need to realize that reading CAN be fun. What better way to do that than with GAMES and other fun, hands-on learning activities!

You can make a difference in whether a child loves reading or dreads it. There is NOTHING in education more valuable than instilling a love of learning in a child.
